About this place
At 6:30 in the morning, the aroma of fresh baking fills the residential neighborhood of Towa in Adachi Ward as bakery Green Field opens its doors. Operating exclusively on weekends—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—the shop draws customers seeking warm bread while the streets are still quiet.
The primary draw for many is the limited-quantity "tsuke curry pan" (dipping curry bread). Departing from the traditional style of frying dough around a filling, this unique creation pairs light, fluffy bread with a separate cup of curry for dipping, featuring weekly variations such as a tomato-based cheese curry. The spicy sauce combined with the tender crumb makes for a deeply satisfying breakfast.
Sweet pastries also make a strong showing. From cube-shaped cream buns loaded with mixed berries to classic melon pan and crisp, fragrant apple pie, the counter offers plenty for an afternoon treat. The selection extends to hearty sourdough and rustic loaves, including bouncy mame-mage cheese bread crusted with baked cheese, as well as campagne studded with walnuts and dried fruits that releases deep savory notes with every bite.
Operating as a compact, takeout-only bakery, the shop accommodates only a few customers at a time. Because favorite items frequently sell out during the morning rush, visiting right around opening provides the best look at the full display.
